ISPA’s AGM and summer reception
The World Cup took a back seat as ISPA held its AGM and summer reception at the National Liberal Club in early July.
Jessica Hendrie-Liaño, Chair of the ISPA Council, gave attendees a summary of ISPA’s activities and accomplishments over the past year. In particular, she congratulated ISPA on strengthening its membership by more than 20 companies over the past year.
The AGM was followed by what is fast becoming the Internet social event of the summer – the ISPA summer reception. Attendees were treated to drinks and canapés, whilst entertained by a pianist and mystifying magician.
Special guest Derek Wyatt MP gave a poignant keynote speech, congratulating the UK Internet industry on leading the world with industry self-regulation and measures to combat illegal content online.
Attended by ISPA members, industry insiders and policy makers, the ISPA summer reception provided a social platform for discussion of the key issues affecting the Internet industry.

Book your place at the Internet bash of the year with our new prize draw
ISPA is offering a chance for YOU and TWO GUESTS to attend The 2007 ISPAs. On a cold February evening you could be basking in the warm glow of industry bigwigs and aficionados at this prestigious event, by entering our NEW PRIZE DRAW.
Entry into the competition is simple. ISPA is researching which services are used by ISPs. If you are an ISP, just tell us what services you've been buying and you could be heading to the awards.
For EACH company and service you submit you will receive ONE entry into the draw, and you can put forward as many as you like. Just email your lists to the ISPA Press Office.
The ISPAs will be held in February 2007, and will host luminaries from the Internet, government and the media. Its been described by The Times as "The awards that could have the most direct bearing on your life” and The Mirror declared it “The Internet event of the year.”
Not only is it an opportunity to celebrate innovation and achievement, but its a great chance to network. 73 per cent of last year’s attendees made new business contacts at the awards.
The lucky winners will be announced in Dec 06/Jan 07.

Consider Consumer Issues At Second ISPA Conference
A practical guide to consumer issues affecting your business
ISPA is pleased to announce that, following the success of its inaugural conference in December 2005, the second ISPA conference will be held on September 20th 2006. The one day conference, sponsored by Eversheds, BT Wholesale and CSIA, will provide vital information on specific consumer issues affecting ISP’s business as well as focusing on topical business related issues.
With a day of speakers and two afternoon workshops this conference will help you advance your knowledge on issues ranging from Government Co-operation with Industry to combat child abuse on the internet, to ISP’s role in assisting Business with Security Issues. Senior management and managing directors will receive essential information from this conference, allowing them to combat the exact consumer issues that affect their businesses.
The conference will be held at Eversheds House in Manchester.

Industry Voices Discuss VOIP
Next ISPA legal forum
Members should start warming up for the latest ISPA legal forum, which will be held on the 27th September. VOIP will take pole position as the topic under discussion.
Over the course of the afternoon attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations and Q & A from speakers representing Olswang, The Internet Telephony Service Providers Association (ITSPA) and Ofcom. There will also be the opportunity to discuss the issues informally, network and meet up with other ISPA members over a drink.
We welcome members to share their experience, find out more and also to gain some new insight in an important area.
