ISPA UK Advocates ISPs’ Strong Links With The Law
Latest best current practice document supports a 24hr contact for law enforcement agencies
Wednesday, 25th April 2007
The Internet Services Providers’ Association (ISPA UK) - the UK’s leading Internet trade association - has published its latest best current practice (BCP) document on dealing with requests from law enforcement agencies (LEAs).
At times LEAs wish to contact ISPA members that may be able to help with current investigations. To deal with these enquiries efficiently, ISPA believes members should make contact details of a named individual or other contact point available to LEAs. Where possible this should be a 24hr point of contact.
The Law Enforcement Contact BCP is the latest in a series of documents advising ISPA members on handling various issues ranging from spam to peer-to-peer networking. Each BCP represents what ISPA considers to be best practice at the time of publishing.
The document is available on-line at http://www.ispa.org.uk/home/page_371.html
Jessica Hendrie-Liaño, the Chair of the ISPA Council, said “ISPA already has excellent relations with the Home Office, Government officials and law enforcement agencies. This document aims to strengthen these ties.”
