The Internet Services Providers’ Association (ISPA UK) is delighted to unveil the winners of the 22nd Annual UK Internet Industry Awards, the ISPAs.
With 2020 seeing a shift to online, the ISPA Awards was no different as the event moved from its usual physical setting to an online video platform for the very first time. Some would say that this meant no insufferable dance moves and bad jokes about broadband, and spirits amongst attendees remained high as top-notch entertainment was still provided alongside the awards presentation.
As ever, the awards brought together a huge range of companies which together make up the UK ISP industry. Whether large or small, regional or national, or new or established, they were represented at the ISPAs, a true reflection of the breadth and diversity of the UK ISP community.
Exa Networks were the big winner of the night, taking home three awards for Best Business ISP, Social Impact Award and Best Partnership. Storm Internet, Community Fibre, Gigaclear, Talk Straight, Glide, Jurassic Fibre, Voipfone and catalyst2 also won awards.
This year’s Internet Hero award was awarded to the Internet industry, as the sector has proven to be an absolutely vital infrastructure for the UK in sharing key information, keeping businesses operating and allowing loved ones to remain in contact. 2020 would have been a lot more difficult without the ISP sector, that’s for sure.
ISPA Chair Andrew Glover commented:
“The value of the UK ISP sector was for all to see at the 22nd ISPA Awards because the entire event took place virtually. Without ISPs, there could be no ceremony this year!
A big congratulations are in order for this year’s winners. 2020 has been a year like no other, but it has also been a year where ISP employees were seen as key workers, broadband has underpinned the entire economy to keep businesses operating and we were all able to keep in touch with loved ones through the pandemic. This is why the internet industry was awarded the Internet Hero award this year. The internet industry has kept Britain Connected, and these winners deserve special recognition for their awards tonight.”
