Policy & advocacy

ISPA represents members to government, regulators and other stakeholders, highlighting the value that connectivity delivers for the UK’s economy and communities.

Our current priority policy areas

Online safety and content regulation

The government & industry is under increasing media and political pressure to address young people’s relationship with social media and the internet. We advocate for member interests and navigate the legislative hurdles faced by ISPs

Network resilience and security

As online threats become increasingly persistent, connectivity providers are becoming increasingly seen as pivotal to ensuring resilience.

We act as a key conduit between industry and government to help navigate these threats and advocate for practical regulation

Consumer protection

As the representative body for the UK’s internet industry, we place consumer protection at the heart of our mission to foster a fair, transparent, and secure digital landscape. We empower our members to lead on this topic by upholding a mandatory Code of Practice, which serves as a gold standard for customer service, transparency, and data protection.

Digital infrastructure

At ISPA UK, we recognise that world-class digital infrastructure our members deploy is the foundation of the UK’s modern economy. As the industry transitions from the initial build phase of connectivity infrastructure to focus on commercial take-up and network resilience, our role is to ensure the regulatory environment remains pro-investment and predictable, helping overcome key deployment barriers.

Adoption & innovation

We are supporting the industry’s journey from the rapid deployment of digital infrastructure to a focus on promoting adoption and value-driven innovation. As the nationwide rollout matures, our role is to ensure that the UK’s world-class networks are effectively harnessed to drive economic growth and broad societal benefit
