Data Protection and Privacy Event in April -
ISPA is holding a Legal Forum event in April to discuss the implications for ISPA members of the new Data Protection Regulation that was published by the European Commission in January. Speakers will discuss the new rules on data protection from the point of view of industry, regulators, government and the law. Areas likely to be discussed include, the ‘right to be forgotten’, data portability, data processing, penalties and notification of data breaches.

ISPA Awards update – Written Entry Forms Submitted
The written entry forms have now been submitted and they will be sent off to the panel of ISPA Awards judges to be assessed. In the meantime testing in the broadband and hosting categories will continue until April 30th. Finalists will be announced in May.

Communications Data Proposals
ISPA has received a lot of interest on the Government’s proposals to update its capabilities regarding communications data. ISPA has responded with the following comment and will be responding in more detail when the proposals are announced.
“It is important that proposals to update Government’s capabilities to intercept and retain communications data in the new communications environment are proportionate, respect freedom of expression and the privacy of users, and are widely consulted upon in an open and transparent manner."
