No rest for ISPA over the summer

With multiple consultations published by Government on topics as diverse as consumer advocacy, street works and the European Electronic Communications Code, the broadband subgroup will meet this week to discuss developments, share intelligence from recent meetings with Ofcom and DCMS and shape ISPA's responses. Planning for further activity around upcoming Wayleave legislation is also underway.

The cyber security subgroup are convening later this month to discuss the inquiry into the UK’s 5G infrastructure and national security. The next full meeting of the subgroup will take place at the end of the summer and will cover a range of issues from the Telecoms Supply Chain Review to Active Cyber Defence.

Over the last month there has been a great deal of activity in the liability workstream, including hosting a workshop on DNS-over-HTTPS and submitting a response to the Online Harms White Paper consultation.

If you are a member of ISPA and would like to get involved in these subgroups, please contact admin@ispa.org.uk.

ISPA Partners for 2019

This month article is from Salumanus

We are happy to announce that in July 2019 we have successfully implemented a DWDM system for one of the most innovative data centres in Poland. Our client expected us to connect two centres situated approx. 45 km from one another and to build an efficient DWDM system. A real challenge was the fact that there was only one fibre on each of the two routes connecting the centres, while the amount of traffic to be generated was immense. But we did it! We remodelled the client’s network in our optical networks laboratory to test the solution we had designed and having checked that everything worked smoothly we started the implementation. The network we have built enables the client to send  24x10 Gigabit Ethernet, 24x16G Fibre channel and 16x1 Gigabit Ethernet while the delays between devices are smaller than 1ms, which is crucial for synchronous replications. The client received what he had expected within rigid budget and time boundaries. For more information please contact sales@salumanus.com.
