ISPA POLICY WORK

2021: A busy policy year ahead

ISPA is expecting a busy policy agenda in 2021. The much anticipated Government response to the Online Harms white paper that came out before Christmas will be followed by a Bill and pre-legislative scrutiny. ISPA will be working closely with DCMS and members throughout the year. Meanwhile, in anticipation of heightened focus on online safety in 2021, ISPA are close to finalising a date for a member roundtable with the IWF.

Telecoms Security Bill begins its journey through Parliament

Following the introduction of the Telecoms Security Bill at the end of November, ISPA is now engaging closely with the Public Bill Committee that starts its scrutiny of the Bill this week. We were grateful for member feedback and incorporated these points whilst continuing to liaise with members. We look forward to covering the first Committee session in early January.

Parliament criticises Government delays on gigabit broadband deployment

In the context of the Spending Review and the Government's decision to revise its broadband targets, ISPA submitted supplementary evidence to the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee and raised concerns with a wider set of Parliamentarians. We also continued to work on wayleave reform and open communications, assisted the Government with preparations for the Covid-vaccine rollout, and liaised on Brexit preparations.

Community Fibre TV is announced... And is now live!

It’s been an exciting end to 2020 and an equally exciting start to 2021. Community Fibre and Netgem announced in December to the market the upcoming launch of “Community Fibre TV” the Pay TV lite, branded TV service powered by Netgem TV.

The ISPA winner for “Best consumer ISP 2020” and London’s fastest 100% full-fibre broadband provider has chosen Netgem as its entertainment partner to bring to life the power of their full-fibre broadband through Netgem TV 4K and multistream service.

Community Fibre TV follows the tracks of fast-growing Origin TV service (powered by Netgem TV) mid-2020, validating Netgem’s branded product and commercial framework for fast-growing ISPs.

And only a few weeks later.. It’s now live with a fantastic “year free Amazon Prime” offer. You can check out the full proposition here, and to know how you can use TV to boost your Fibre sales, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Netgem here.
