ISPA Awards - Who should be crowned Internet Hero and Villain?

ISPA is on the hunt for the 2015 Internet Hero and Internet Villain, to be revealed at the ISPA Awards ceremony next month. ISPA members and members of the public are encouraged to tweet their suggestions  to @ISPAUK using the #InternetHero and #InternetVillain hashtags. The 2014 Internet Hero award went to The Guardian, for their coverage of the Snowden revelations, with GCHQ named Internet Villain. More widely, the ISPA Awards has over forty organisations nominated for awards and we look forward to finding out the winners at the ceremony on Thursday 2nd July. ISPA Awards tickets on sale

With the ISPA Awards just over one month away, tickets can be booked here. Tickets include a three course gala dinner, entertainment and a champagne reception. Mikko Hyppönen from F-Secure will give the keynote presentation. After last year’s sell out event, the 2015 ISPAs is taking place at the Brewery in the City of London on Thursday 2 July.

ISPA responds to the Investigatory Powers Bill

The Government introduced a new Bill called the Investigatory Powers Bill to modernise communications data and surveillance legislation. In response, ISPA issued a statement welcoming plans to modernising the law, but called for enough time to also allow Parliament, industry and other stakeholders to have a full, open and comprehensive debate. ISPA to hold members' workshop on the Digital Single Market

ISPA and law firm Kemp Little are holding a workshop for ISPA members on the European Commission's plan for a Digital Single Market. The  Digital Single Market could transform the way telecommunications and content providers  are regulated. The event will look at how the proposals could impact the UK Internet industry more widely. Experts from Kemp Little will give their analysis of the Digital Single Market and two panels will examine  major parts affecting the sector. The full agenda can be seen here.
