ISPA's Government work continues
The broadband subgroup met at the start of the summer to set the policy direction for ISPA’s work on a number of Government consultations. Ongoing work on the implementation of the EECC, new platforms for streetworks and around consumer advocacy have all progressed, and Secretariat will continue to reinforce these messages at upcoming meetings with DCMS.
We have also continued to engage with policymakers on issues related to online harms, age appropriate design, DNS-over-HTTPS and the new AVMSD proposals, this has included participation in roundtables and responses to relevant consultations.
Following the publication of the Telecoms Supply Chain Review and the launch of the inquiry into the UK’s 5G infrastructure and national security, ISPA has been refining its position on supply chain issues in consultation with members.
If you are a member of ISPA and would like to get involved in these subgroups, please contact admin@ispa.org.uk.

Wightfibre launches Full-Fibre with netgem.tv
ISPA member WightFibre is rolling out their Full-Fibre network to help make the Isle of Wight the best connected island in the UK, with their network set to reach over 60,000 of the 70,000 homes on the island by the end of 2020.
Last month, to accompany the rollout, WightFibre launched with altnet favourite for internet TV services - netgem.tv - to create added buzz on their Full-Fibre proposition. They started with a joint marketing campaign focused on offering the best entertainment on the Isle of Wight's fastest internet, and with an emphasis on a host of new shows including The Grand Tour on Prime Video and Killing Eve on BBC.
The campaign has been an instant hit with Isle of Wight residents, with many now claiming to understand better the benefits of faster speeds in the context of instant streaming.
John Irvine, CEO of Wightfibre said ‘It’s been a very busy year and we are just getting our Full-Fibre rollout going at full speed. TV is a really important part of the offering in the UK market place where the end customer is now expecting to buy TV alongside their broadband, so being able to offer TV is extremely important. netgem.tv have a great value proposition, that brings next generation TV to our customers, that complements our Full-Fibre rollout.'
If you would like to find out more about the partnership, netgem.tv will be at the ISP Business Model Summit Thursday 19th September and you can get in touch with audrey@ispa.org.uk to set up a meeting.
