Think Tank Set to Find Legal Alternatives to File Sharing
Discount for ISPA members
Music Tank, the business development network for the UK music industry, is hosting a series of events this autumn looking at promoting legal alternatives to file sharing. The think tanks will bring together rights holders, ISPs, technologists, consumer representatives and service providers to address how to give music fans what they want.

On July 24th the BPI and the UK’s six largest ISPs made a commitment to:

Work towards a significant reduction in illegal file-sharing
Help develop consumer education programmes
Develop legal online services
Music Tank is devoting its autumn programme to the third commitment of developing legal services that give music fans what they want.

The first think tank on the 21st October will address what consumers’ want and the services in the process of launching.

On the 4th November the second think tank will look at the technology that exists and what a legal alternative to file sharing may look like.

The third event on November 18th will address the licensing options available and how to ensure the widest selection of music is included.

The final think tank on the 4th December will pull together conclusions from the previous events for further research and development and consider possible knock on effects internationally and for film and TV.

The series of events will be held in London at The Basement, MCPS-PRS Alliance, 29-33 Berners Street. ISPA members are offered a reduced rate for attending of 25 pound per session (a five pound saving) if sessions are booked individually and the whole series can be discounted for 100 pound (a 20 pound saving).

To benefit from the discount, members need to insert the following code, when prompted in the online booking process ‘ISPA08'.

Places must be booked and paid for in advance at www.musictank.co.uk.
