ISP industry response to Covid-19
Following the unprecedented national response to Covid-19, ISPA members have been working flat out connecting customers, fixing faults and managing networks as the country relies even more on being connected.
As part of our response to help support members, ISPA has:
- Helped coordinate regular and active engagement with Government and regulators so that telecoms engineers can carry out their critical work
- Established hub on the ISPA website with guidance for members
- Led weekly member calls to share findings, answer questions and take forward actions
- Briefed journalists on key industry issues such as network performance
- Dealt with queries from members

ISPA work during the current situation
Despite a great deal of focus naturally shifted to COVID-19, there has still been time this month to hold our regular, though now remote, subgroup meetings. The broadband subgroup’s work has focused on the ongoing DCMS Committee Inquiry into the Government’s nationwide gigabit capable target, to which ISPA will be submitting written evidence. Further to this, a webinar session was held for the subgroup with presentations from both Phil Laws at Openreach discussing their approach to copper switch off, and Tom Raynsford from DCMS updating the group on the work of the Barrier Busting team.
ISPA Awards update
We received a great number of entries for this year's ISPA Awards. We understand that some companies are experiencing difficulties due to the present situation and weren't able to submit their entries on time but if you still want to participate in the awards please contact awards@ispa.org.uk and we can work out an individual plan for you. The awards ceremony has been moved to 18th November so please add this date to your diaries and we hope that we will see most of our members there.
