Busy summer of Broadband, safety and security policy

July, as always, has been a busy month on the policy front with Government and regulators consulting on a variety of policy issues before they go on their summer holidays. The Government’s consultation on the design of the Universal Service Obligation, as well as the separate announcement that a voluntary universal service offer from BT is under consideration, will keep ISPA’s policy team busy during the coming months. We also have Ofcom cyber security guidance and online safety to work with our members on.

Also worth mentioning, is that DCMS has started to develop an implementation plan for a new Gigabit Connection Voucher Scheme – this is of relevance to a lot of our members and comes in addition to the Government’s ongoing work on supporting ultrafast network rollout.
