Parliament & Internet Conference: debate UK digital policy at the outset of a new Government - 27th February
The Parliament & Internet Conference is a prestigious annual conference to discuss Internet policy and inform policymakers by bringing together Government, Parliamentarians, officials, business and civil society. The event is hosted by Vicky Ford MP on Thursday 27th February at Portcullis House in London. The confirmed keynote speakers are Matt Warman MP, Minister for Digital & Broadband, Dr Steve Wood, ICO Deputy Commissioner, and Dr Kieron O’Hara, University of Southampton, ‘Four Internets’.
The conference also includes three panel sessions:
- Working together to build and deliver world class communications infrastructure with Openreach
- Regulating the digital world of the future with Sky
- Securing networks and adapting to emerging cyber threats with Raytheon

ISPA policy work update
The broadband subgroup has kicked off 2020 with a meeting to plan activity for the year and discuss several ongoing consultations from Ofcom. With the EECC and Wholesale Fixed Telecoms Market Review published by Ofcom either side of Christmas there is a lot of regulation to digest, as well as activity in Parliament. Following the election last year the Government has progressed its legislation to ease access for operators to tenanted properties. ISPA is continuing to monitor and actively reach out to Parliamentarians as this Bill goes through the House of Commons to ensure the views of the industry are represented. Elsewhere, ISPA and its member are eagerly awaiting the imminent publication of the Online Harms White Paper.
ISPA Awards 2020
The registration for the ISPA Awards closed on Friday and testing for ISP and hosting categories starts this week. As we now await written entry submissions, a reminder that the deadline for entries is 27th March and all categories details and links to the forms can be found here.
The shortlist will be revealed in April and winners at the awards ceremony on 2nd July in London, tickets will go on sale next month.
