Please find below a press comment from the Chair of the Internet Services Providers’ Association (ISPA) Andrew Glover, in response to the House of Lords Communications Committee’s Report into Regulating in a Digital Age.

"It is encouraging that today’s report confirms ISPA’s longstanding view that the internet is not an unregulated ‘wild west’, and is in fact subject to the same laws that apply offline, in addition to a range of standards and regulatory bodies.

"This report is a helpful contribution to the ongoing debate around regulation in the digital age, including the need for online platforms to improve how they manage and remove content and to improve co-ordination across Government, ahead of the publication of the Government’s Online Harms White Paper.

"We support the Committee’s position that reform in this area must be undertaken with due care to mitigate unintended consequences.”
