Migrating Wholesale Line Rental (WLR) assets in the trial areas of Salisbury and Mildenhall
To support the UK wide WLR stop sell in September 2023 and withdrawal of all WLR services in December 2025, Openreach is running trials in Salisbury and Mildenhall to test the process. Both areas are already under stop sell and WLR will be withdrawn in April 2023.
In February 2022, as part of the migrations process, Openreach wrote to affected Communications Providers (CPs) in the trials asking them to submit, by 4 April 2022, their WLR migration forecasts.
CPs who did not submit a forecast, were informed by Openreach of the intention to make direct contact with their customers.
Direct contact, in the form of a postcard, was made to CPs’ affected customers (both residential and business) on 20 July 2022 with a service message informing them their existing telephone connectivity will be changing and advising them to contact their current service provider.
