Busy Summer of Regulatory Consultations to Respond to

ISPA will be responding to a number of government and regulatory consultations over the summer, including Ofcom’s consultations on the Digital Economy Act code of practice, the parliamentary committee into the draft communications data bill, the call for evidence on active choice, the commission questionnaire on dealing with unlawful content and much more besides.  At this busy and exciting time for industry, there has never been a better time to join ISPA.

ISPA Secretary General Interviewed for ITV Tonight Programme

ISPA Secretary General Nick Lansman appeared on the ITV Tonight Programme this month and outlined the industry’s view on online parental controls.

The programme was aimed at educating parents on how to deal with harmful content online, such as children accessing pornography and cyber-bullying. They also interviewed Fiona Mactaggart MP, Helen King from CEOP, a family in Wigan, a school in Surrey on anti-bullying, an IT expert and ISPA on what advice the industry can give.

The programme can be accessed here. The Secretary General makes the points that the industry is concerned and wants to empower parents to make the right decisions with the tools provided by ISPs. He also makes the point that filters are not a silver bullet and that parental mediation is essential.

The black-tie dinner and awards ceremony was held on the 3rd July at the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel in London and featured comedian John Moloney, entrepreneur Dr Peter Cochrane, and TV presenter Tom Scott.

The 2013 Awards will be launched later this year and will include updated categories and information about entering.
