ISPA Holds Big Event in February -

The 2009 ISPA Parliamentary Advisory Forum took place on Monday 23rd February in Portcullis House, Westminster on the issue of e-crime reduction. Attended by over 120 people from Parliament, Government, law enforcement, press and industry, the event focussed on the reduction of eCrime.

The Forum was hosted by former Secretary of State for Wales Rt Hon Alun Michael MP and included a keynote address from Home Office Minister Alan Campbell MP and speeches from DS Charlie McMurdie of the Police Central e-Crime Unit (PceU, Mikko Hypponen from F-Secure and Phil Davies from Sky.

The event was the twelfth annual ISPA Parliamentary Forum and it continues to grow in size and prestige, with significant news coverage following the event. It is just one of many events that ISPA members can attend for free in a busy calendar of networking opportunities.

ISPA also held the first Legal Forum of 2009 this month. The event, kindly hosted by ISPA Legal Forum members, Blake Lapthorn, featured speakers from the Home Office and NewNet and looked at the regulations transposing the Europeanj Directive on Data Retention, an important issue for ISPA members.

Technical Testing Started for the ISPA Awards

Testing has begun for ISPs who have entered this year’s ISPA Awards. The testing will continue until May 1st with value added and written entry forms to be completed by the 31st March.

The finalists for the awards will be shortlisted in mid May with the winners being selected based on a combination of the results of the technical testing and the marks from the panel of independent judges.

The black tie dinner and awards ceremony will take place at the Grosvenor Marriott Hotel in London on the 9th July.
