Entries In and Judges Confirmed for the 2010 ISPAs -

The ISPA Awards entries are in and it promises to be another close battle across all categories this year. Entrants are busy working with ISPA’s technical partners Epitiro to set up testing, which will start on the 15th February and continue for three months.

ISPA Supports Safer Internet Day 2010

Safer Internet Day 2010 will be held on the 9th February and will be on the topic of ‘Think before you post!’. Safer Internet Day is organised by Insafe each year in February to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

In 2009 Safer Internet Day was marked by organisations from 50 countries all over the world, including ISPA and the Internet Watch Foundation.

As part of the public awareness coordination role on behalf of the , the CEOP Centre has launched a micro-site at http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/saferinternetdayuk, which has been designed to give schools, teachers, youth workers and child protection specialists ideas and suggestions about how to get involved.

Registering on the site will also provide access to the various educational resources – like assembly programmes and primary and secondary aged resources – provided free by CEOP, IWF and other organisations.

Internet Stakeholders Invited to Internet Governance Forum

Nominet has invited all Internet stakeholders to the forthcoming UK Internet Governance Forum (UK IGF) meeting on 3 February.

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a discussion group that was set up by the United Nations to provide a forum for Internet stakeholders to discuss Internet policy and governance issues. Nominet sponsored a delegation of MPs to attend the recent IGF in Sharm el Sheikh, .

A number of parliamentarians and other stakeholders who attended the IGF will be sharing the messages from the discussions at the meeting.
